AMERIN HOTEL JOHOR BAHRU

A Great Location For A Vacation

Comfortable accommodation with four-star facilities: that’s what travellers will find at Amerin Hotel, Johor Bahru, which soft launch in May this year.
Catering to both business and leisure travellers, the 17-storey hotel is centrally located in Taman Perling, Johor Bahru, and can be seen easily from afar as it is one of the tallest buildings in the area.
EFY went for a night’s stay to experience it for ourselves, and we were not disappointed!
By Eris Choo from EFY

We travelled from KL via the North Sourth Highway toward Second Link and exit from 307 before Tuas Checkpoint direction. After the toll, we continue drive toward Taman Perling. Upon our arrival at the Amerin Hotel, we stepped into the spacious lobby which had high glass windows that allowed lots of natural sunlight to filter in. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and pastries from Gloria Jean’s Coffee Shop wafted over from next door.
With 176 rooms, 6 different room types and 4 themes, we were spoilt for choice as soon as we were checked into the hotel by friendly staff.
Our Deluxe Twin room for the night was on the 8th floor, which carried the Loves Theme. The entire floor was decked out in a relaxing blue palette that was pleasing to the eye.
The room itself was spacious and had two single beds, with soft pillows as well as warm and fluffy comforters.
Our toes sank into the soft blue carpeting, which was decorated with prints of red and grey, while the bathroom door was tinted with playful heart shapes.
After a relaxing journey from Kuala Lumpur, we made use of the Coffee-making facilities to brew ourselves cups of coffee and tea, before turning on the 40’ LED TV. There were more than 20 channels playing local and international shows, sports and news. Each room has Wi-Fi, a mini Fridge as well as a Safe for storing valuables.
The bathroom was also Clean and Spacious, and had a soothing rainshower. For travellers (like me) who are always forgetting to bring Toiletries and Toothbrushes, these are provided for by the hotel.
We were taken on a tour of the rest of the hotel rooms: Deluxe King, Super Deluxe King, Platinum Suite, Amerin Suite, Gold Suite and Terrace Executive Rooms.
The Largest Suite is the Amerin Suite, which is suitable for families or for longer stays. Besides having two bedrooms, it also comes with a kitchen area, washing machine facilities (so you don’t have to take your laundry out!), a bar counter, and a comfortable living room area.
Those who pick the Terrace Executive Rooms will have a Spectacular view of a landscaped garden, complete with private veranda.
Taking into mind disabled guests, each floor has a dedicated room with Wheelchair friendly facilities, with a larger bathroom equipped with handbars, a lowered desk and lower switches.
Rooms followed different themes which were differentiated by colour, such as Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow. They are also known as Fantasy, Loves, Magadascar and City Scape respectively.
Families with young children might like the Madagascar rooms, as they have a ‘jungle’ feel with leopard-pattern rugs and frosted glass doors with trees and animals on them.
Meanwhile, business travellers might prefer the classy Fantasy theme, with its minimalist design and clean, white wooden surfaces.
Aside from a comfy stay, Amerin Hotel JB also offers a range of facilities to suit the needs of different travellers.
There is a Rooftop pool, which commands almost 360 degree views of the surrounding Perling township and overlooks Danga Bay in the horizon.
One can even come for a swim at night, before hopping over to the Chill Out Sky Bar on the same floor for some cold beers.
Gym and fitness enthusiasts need not miss out on their daily regimes, as there are excellent Gym facilities available.
Travellers coming back after a long day sightseeing or after a business meeting: pamper yourselves with a relaxing reflexology session or massage at the Royal Symphony Spa.
For companies and business travellers, there are five Seminar rooms that are able to house up to 80pax, boardroom for meetings with Full meal arrangements and setup by professional In-house event planners to ensure a hassle-free experience. All you have to worry about is pitching your idea and sealing the deal!
Later in the evening, we made a beeline for the Sky View Cafe just below the swimming pool floor, which offers buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as A La Carte orders beside room service.
The restaurant can easily seat up to 100 pax indoors, with an additional 80 pax outdoors. We recommend sitting outside if weather permits, as diners will get to see beautiful sunset views, throwing orange and pink lights against a purpling sky.
Lucky for us: Executive Chef Brandon Au personally went into the kitchen to whip up our meals to welcome our visit!
Appetiser was Onsen Tamago (Japanese-style slow cooked hot spring egg) with a croquette crust, topped with fish roe, delicate baby sprouts and a side of tartare sauce. Served in cups, the dish was an interesting blend of textures as it was crispy on the outside, while the egg was soft and oozed golden yolk when we spooned in deeper.
For mains, we had Grilled Butterfish. Topped with refreshing salsa, the generous slab of fish sat on a bed of truffle potato mousseline and was drenched in coral cream reduction, which was blended with clams and crab.
We finished off the meal on a sweet note with Chocolate Caramel Mousse. The mousse was fluffy without being overly sweet, and balanced well with the fruits.
The nearest mall Amerin Hotel is Perling Mall, just across the road. Although small, it has everything from a Giant hypermarket, a Movie theatre, Cafes, ATM machines and a Thai spa.
Also just across the road is the Perling Coach Interchange, where one can hop onto Causeway Link bus services can transfer to Singapore’s Jurong East.
After a good night rest and sleep, so we went exploring after the breakfast. Amerin’s central location makes it an ideal place to get to anywhere. All the major shopping centres such as Aeon Mall Bukit Indah, Sutera Aeon Mall, City Square, and Komtar JBCC Angry Bird are just few minutes away.
Meanwhile, attractions such as LEGOLAND, Hello Kitty Land, Pinewood Studio, Edu City, Puteri Harbour and Johor Premium Outlet are also about 10 to 20minutes by car. For business travellers, it is close to the government administration centre of Kota Iskandar Nusajaya
International and domestic travellers will be happy to note that the JB Senai International Airport is a mere 20min drive via Skudai Express Way, while the Singapore Changi International Airport is half an hour away from the hotel via TUAS 2nd link.
Room rates start from RM268. In conjunction with their opening, there will be a special opening rate of just RM238 until September.
